UNLV Annual Salary Roster
Effective FY 2008, at the discretion of the Executive Vice President &
Provost and with the concurrence of the Executive Committee of the Faculty
Senate, the University will publish an Annual Salary Roster, instead of the
historical merit listing published in previous years. The Salary Roster
includes an inventory of all salary adjustments effective July 1 each fiscal
year and includes the following information to facilitate meaningful analysis:
-
Name, Title, College/School/Division, Department, Position Number
-
Contract Status, FTE, and Base Salary for June 30 Appointment
-
Salary Adjustments by Category (Promo, Merit, COLA, & Other Adjustments)
-
Contract Status, FTE, and Base Salary for July 1 Appointment
Changes in Contract Status or FTE
Contract Status or FTE may change from June 30 to July 1. To ensure meaningful
reporting and analysis, the June 30 Base Salary shows the contract status and
FTE associated with the June 30 appointment. The July 1 Base Salary shows the
contract status and FTE associated with the July 1 appointment.
-
Contract Status refers to the number of months an employee works per
year:
-
"A" Contracts = 12 month appointments
-
"B" Contracts = 9 month appointments
-
FTE = Full-Time Equivalent value of the appointment
Stated Values for Salary Increases
For academic faculty (with tenure or rank) who have 12-month administrative
appointments, the values stated for salary adjustments represent 9-month, B
base adjustments. The annualized full-time-equivalent 12-month base salary is
then calculated as 1.2 x the 9-month base salary, as provided in Board of
Regents' policy.
Categories of Salary Adjustments & Sources of Funds
Each category of salary adjustment has different eligibility criteria and
funding sources, as summarized briefly below:
Promotions represent a change from one position to another or a
change in title or faculty rank within an existing position with a material
change in duties & responsibility. Promotional increases are funded
through the reallocation of existing salary funds and do not reduce available
merit or COLA funds.
Merit increases effective each fiscal year are predicated on
prior calendar year performance and are based on annual performance evaluations
for professional staff or merit application & evaluation processes
specified in college and school bylaws for academic faculty. Merit increases
for State-funded positions are funded by the Nevada Legislature and authorized
by the Board of Regents. Merit increases for non-State-funded positions are
self-supporting, but must reflect current annual appropriation percentages for
State-funded positions. Merit funding is a dedicated funding source and is
not used to support other types of salary adjustments.
COLAs or cost of living adjustments for State-funded positions
are funded by the Nevada Legislature and authorized by the Board of Regents.
COLAs for non-State-funded positions are self-supporting, but must reflect the
current annual appropriation percentages for State-funded positions. COLA
funding is a dedicated funding source and is not used to support other types of
salary adjustments.
Other Salary Adjustments may include internal equity adjustments, labor market
adjustments, retention adjustments, or changes in duties or responsibilities
(that do not result in a rank or grade change). Other Salary Adjustments are
funded through the reallocation of existing salary funds and do not reduce
available merit or COLA funds.
The Annual Salary Roster is a "point-in-time" report, updated July 1 each year.
